Hi, I’m Kiana.
I am a results-driven geological engineer passionate about turning subsurface data into actionable insights for smarter, more sustainable mineral exploration.
About Me
My Specializations:
Ground and air-borne geophysical methods (e.g., Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT), Induced Polarization (IP), Magnetic, Gravity, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic (EM), and Seismic Refraction)
Geophysical data processing and 3D modeling (SimPEG, Oasis Montaj, ResXDINV, SeisImager, RADAN)
Geological hazard analysis (e.g., landslides, slope stability)
Field data acquisition and interpretation
Python-based geophysical algorithm development
My Interests:
Applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to geophysical workflows
Sustainable mineral exploration and environmental geophysics
Integrating multidisciplinary datasets for subsurface imaging
Expanding into energy exploration and carbon capture monitoring
Collaborating on open-source geophysical tools and community science
Professional Experiences
Research Geophysicist, UNIDRO May 2020 – January 2022
At UNIDRO, I was involved in several industry-oriented geophysical research projects focused on mineral exploration and geotechnical assessments across Iran. These multidisciplinary projects allowed me to apply both field and computational geophysics in real-world contexts.
Geophysicist Intern, National Iranian Oil Company – Exploration Directorate Summer 2019
As an intern at the NIOC Exploration Directorate, I gained comprehensive exposure to oil exploration workflows, with a focus on seismic data acquisition, interpretation, and reservoir characterization. The internship provided theoretical and practical insights into exploration geophysics in Iran’s major sedimentary basins.
